Job Description

Leap29 are looking for a Project Developer for Solar company in Central US. You will contribute to expanding the company's portfolio of development assets in Central US. This role requires a blend of experience in project management, real estate, effective written and verbal communication, business development, and negotiation.

Ideal location Midwest, however remote candidates will also be considered. Travel is anticipated to be approximately 30%-50% of the time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate agreements with rural landowners.
  • Manage the siting and permitting of facilities on agricultural land.
  • Cultivate ongoing relationships with landowners throughout the development process, securing additional support as needed for easements, zoning, and title-related matters.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources (engineering, finance, legal, environmental, etc.) for successful project development.
  • Oversee development from financial close to the start of construction.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, economics, business, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in real estate or infrastructure development, with a preference for solar or wind experience.
  • Relevant experience in negotiating site control agreements, including leases, purchase options, mineral rights agreements, or easements.
  • Successful experience in permitting facilities on agricultural property.
  • Strong public speaking skills for representation at community meetings and zoning hearings.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and commercial acumen.
  • Independent work ethic, self-motivation, and leadership ability, especially in overseeing multiple projects/transactions simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, Google Earth, Adobe, etc.).
  • Adaptability to an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Knowledge of MISO and PJM
