Structural Engineering Lead – Perth / Western Australia – Mining and Maritime Projects

Duration: Permanent Hire Appointment

Working Week: 40 – 45 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Location: Perth CBD with business travel throughout Western Australia

Rate: Monthly salary fixed plus superannuation.

This company has extensive experience in mines and port infrastructure including jetties and wharves as well as bulk material handling machinery such as ship loaders, stackers and reclaimers.

Their scope of work can range from structural design and documentation, structural condition and risk assessments, analysis using finite element analysis techniques as well as site based structural engineering investigations.

They have built a reputation of quality over quantity for the last 20 years and foster an holistic, well rounded and pragmatic approach to structural challenges in this sector.

The Work

This company are looking for a senior level structural engineer capable of developing and building a team around themselves. You will be expected to not only provide technical capability in current project scopes but also in supporting the business through technical bids, proposals and meeting with new and existing clients.

The Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience (Post Qualification)

• Degree qualified (Structural Engineering/Civil Engineering)

• Experienced in a technical engineering role working on the design and or analysis of heavy steel structures used in mining or heavy industry.

• Experienced working within Australian standards.

• Previous experience working on Finite Element Analysis techniques would be desirable.

• Experienced in working on large, industrial bulk materials handling assets.

• Knowledge of the following standards is advantageous

 AS 4324.1 – Mobile equipment for continuous handling of bulk materials, general requirements for the design of steel structures

 AS 4100 – Steel Structures, and subordinate standards

 AS 1418 – Crane series

 AS/NZS 1170 – Structural Design Actions series

 BS 7608 – Guide to fatigue design and assessment of steel products

• Experience in Bulk material handling machines associated to the mining industry is an advantage but not essential

• Interpersonal skills for interacting with team members, direct reports and clients.

• Report writing and communication skills.

• Experience in providing physical site structural investigations
